Origin: When he was 21, Tony's parents were killed in a car accident and he inherited his father's business, The Stark Industries. Within a few years, he turned the company into a multi-billion dollar industry complex whose chief contracts were for advanced weaponry and ammunition for the US government. Tony also bought the company that built the car his parents were driving when they lost their lives and that of flaws corrected in the company's vehicle designs, including those involving brake systems. During the Vietnam War, inventor and businessman Tony Stark was the victim of a grenade explosion. Stark survived the explosion but shrapnel from the explosive lodged near his heart, threatening his life. He was captured and led to the leader Wong Chu. There were only a few days left for the American, and Wong Chu forced him to create a powerful weapon. Tony did not create a weapon but something that would keep him alive and allow him to defeat the captors. Trapped with him was another genius, Professor Ho Yinsen. Stark revealed his plan to the teacher and Yinsen helped him. When Wong Chu's men approached, the old teacher took a machine gun, but was eventually shot, but he secured enough time for Stark to recover and become accustomed to wearing his armor. The Iron Man confronted the soldiers and defeated them. His armor resisted firing on him. Wong Chu tried to flee and the Iron Man set fire to the ammunition shed causing the explosion to kill him. The prisoners were released. Since then Stark has developed new versions of his armor and adopted the colors red and gold as the patterns of the armor.
